Director

Director Marianne Richter focuses on connecting The Columbus Museum with the communities of the Lower Chattahoochee Valley through its art and history collections, exhibitions, and programs. Previously, she was Executive Director of the Swope Art Museum in Terre Haute, Indiana. Richter’s experience in museums and collections also includes curatorial positions at the Union League Club of Chicago and the Dayton Art Institute, and in education at the Brandywine River Museum of Art. Richter graduated from Oberlin College with a B.A. in art history. She has a master’s degree in art history from the University of Delaware, where her focus was American art. She advanced to candidacy in the doctoral program in art history at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where her area of concentration was art since 1945.
