The Fund for African American Art

The Columbus Museum established the Fund for African American art in late 2014. Its purpose is to support and encourage purchases, gifts, and bequests of art by significant African American artists. This fund empowers the Museum to acquire representative works of art by emerging and established African American makers. All are welcome to make contributions of any amount to this fund at any time.

Since the start of its active collecting in 2018, the Alma Thomas Society has acquired works by a range of artists, from Augusta Savage and Laura Wheeler Waring to Therman Statom and Kenneth Moore.

Planned Giving

Friends of The Columbus Museum who wish to help shape its future have chosen a planned gift to extend their loyal support past their lifetime, while realizing substantial benefits for themselves. As a Museum donor, your planned gift can achieve personal goals, and help to sustain the Museum for generations to come.

Gifts of Stock

Donating appreciated securities—stocks, bonds, or mutual funds held for over a year—is a simple and tax-efficient way to support The Columbus Museum. You may receive a charitable deduction for the full market value and avoid capital gains tax on appreciation.

Gifts/Acquisition of Works of Art and History Objects

The Columbus Museum’s collection showcases the evolving artistic tastes of American culture from colonial times to today, along with over 5,000 artifacts telling the history of the Chattahoochee River Valley. Donations of artwork and historic objects help expand our collection, while contributions to the Acquisition Fund allow us to secure exceptional pieces when opportunities arise.
