If you`ve read, heard of, or recently heard Oprah`s podcast highlighting `Theo of Golden` by Allen Levi, then you may know, some stories continue beyond the book.

As readers discover `Theo of Golden,` many are also learning about the artists, locations, and individuals who helped shape its world. One of those artists is Garry Pound, whose portrait of Norman Rothschild is part of The Columbus Museum`s collection. "Not only was Theo of Golden based on Garry`s permanent portrait exhibit in a Columbus coffee house but a major character in the book (Asher) was based on Garry himself."

This Disability Pride Month, we were honored to welcome King Nobuyoshi Godwin and his loved ones to the Museum as they visited his artwork in our `American Arts + Disability` exhibition.

King`s vibrant paintings are inspired by the natural world and brought to life through a process that is uniquely his own. Beginning with a bold base layer, he paints animals and plants before covering the canvas with intricate hand-drawn numbers, creating colorful, kaleidoscopic compositions that reflect his experiences with autism and synesthesia. Through this distinctive visual language, King expresses emotion, connection, and joy.

Be sure to stop by the exhibition to experience Godwin`s work and discover the incredible talent represented throughout the gallery.

Showcasing artists not currently represented in COMU’s collection, Eastern Visions: Asian American Art in Focus highlights the creativity, innovation, and diverse experiences of Asian American artists. Integrated throughout the Museum and featured in a dedicated gallery installation, these works invite visitors to make new connections, explore unfamiliar voices, and see familiar galleries in a fresh light.
