Textile traditions take on new life in SEAMS TO BE, an exhibition featuring thirteen contemporary Georgia artists who push the boundaries of stitching, weaving, quilting, embroidery, and fiber-based processes. Blending innovation with tradition, these works demonstrate how artists are using textile techniques to explore identity, memory, materiality, and social change in bold and unexpected ways. Featured artists include Adah Bennion, Trish Andersen, Kate Burke, Eliza Bentz, Jasmine Best, Jaime Bull, Cathy Fussell, Annie Greene, Sonya Yong James, Kelly Taylor Mitchell, Honey Pierre, Victoria Dugger, and Jamele Wright Sr. Among the featured artists are two Columbus, Georgia natives: Cathy Fussell, whose family has deep roots in the community, and Victoria Dugger, a Columbus State University alumna, highlighting the Chattahoochee Valley’s enduring influence on Georgia’s contemporary fiber arts landscape.

Organized by the Georgia Museum of Art, University of Georgia. This program is supported in part by the W. Newton Morris Charitable Foundation and the Friends of the Georgia Museum of Art.
